The channel glass cladding the structural columns throughout the student esplanade elevates the design of the space. Color-changing LEDs in the cavity behind the glass provide vibrancy and functional lighting at night – a time during which the space is still heavily used. Over 30,000 students pass through this high traffic area daily. Arizona State University’s student esplanade is the first project in North America to use channel glass assemblies with concealed wind clips. The clips are barely perceptible during the day and appear only as faint shadows when back-lit at night.
