Project Description
Bendheim’s Lamberts channel glass is ideal for custom curved applications. Because the relatively narrow glass planks are segmented, only the frames (head and sill) need to be curved, presenting a striking, yet cost effective, alternative to typical curved glass applications. The textured channel glass diffuses light and eliminates glare, along with any potential “glass lens” distorting effects. It offers enhanced aesthetics and occupant comfort through improved daylighting and outstanding thermal and acoustic properties. At United Oil, recently featured in an Architectural Record article on the future of gas station design (March 2021), a cylindrical wall of Bendheim’s channel glass defines the retail portion of the station. It soars over 20 feet tall and features our most popular 504 Rough Cast textured channel glass, installed in our SF-60 double-glazed frame systems. The glass is captured at the top and bottom only and is free of vertical frame members. The fine lines, created by the meeting of the glass flanges, visually elongate the building form, lending it added sense of height. The channel glass was sustainably produced by Glasfabrik Lamberts in an oxygen-and-gas-fired furnace, with low carbon footprint and approximately 40% post-consumer recycled content. It is also bird-friendly.
