Nicklaus Children’s Hospital

Project Description

A range of Bendheim glass and systems are found throughout this children’s hospital. Upon entry, patients, visitors and staff are greeted by walls of vibrant white back-painted glass. The glass is held in Bendheim’s TurnKey™ glass wall cladding system and is lit from the top and bottom. A seating area features a curved partition wall constructed with dozens of dichroic glass fins. The colorful dichroic glass adds a sense of playfulness to help improve the emotional well-being of patients and visitors alike, which is ideal for designing healthcare spaces.

Additionally, etched dichroic glass clads the walls around the elevators and the water fountains between bathrooms on multiple floors, installed with Bendheim’s Z-KISS™ glass cladding system. As with the fins in the seating area, as the viewer’s angle to the dichroic glass changes, so does its color. The dynamic play of color and light elevates the space and helps create a sense of calm.
