Project Description
Channel glass can create virtually seamless interior glass walls of tremendous sizes and proportions. At Mozilla, the glass channels are oriented horizontally. They are captured in Bendheim’s I-60 interior frame system, where hidden jamb supports take the load of each channel. This allows the glass wall to span across elevations effortlessly and securely, emphasizing the height of the lobby. The fine fluted Piccolo glass texture diffuses daylight and reflections, establishing a sense of privacy, while maintaining daylighting advantages. Channel glass is an outstanding alternative to solid partition walls, with comparable acoustic privacy properties and superior aesthetic and daylight benefits. Oriented horizontally, channel glass can create seamless walls that are virtually unlimited in height. Oriented vertically, it can create serpentine curves and glass-to-glass corners up to 23-foot tall. “As an interior partition with horizontal glass, the wall distributes natural light and reduces electrical lighting needs. At night, the illuminated glazed glass wall creates a warm, glowing appearance,” said Jonas Kellner of MKThink. Bendheim’s channel glass is sustainably produced by Glasfabrik Lamberts in an oxygen-and-gas-fired furnace, with low carbon footprint and up to 40% post-consumer recycled content.
