Hyatt Regency Chicago

Project Description

Expansive corridors lined with Bendheim’s single-glazed, back-lit channel glass lead the way to the conference meeting rooms of this upscale hotel. The illuminated 504 Rough Cast channel glass walls define this elongated space, enhancing the guests’ visual experience. Lighting, a principal design objective for this project, infuses the corridors with a bright, vibrant ambiance. The tall translucent glass channels feature an anti-glare surface texture, smoothly diffusing the light and minimizing glare. They display a subtle bluish-green hue, most visibly expressed in the rhythmic seams between the glass channels. The radiance of the wall, combined with the sea-green cast of the recycled channel glass, helps create an illusion of flowing natural daylight. The linearity of the glass walls visually elongates the perceived height of the corridors, lending a sense of spaciousness to the below-ground space.
