Project Description
Single-glazed, Piccolo channel glass acts as a decorative glass screen atop the public face of this library. Set in our SF-60S frame, the finely ribbed texture of the glass disperses light across the screen and helps draw eyes toward the building.
Testimonials
From the Architect
“Channel glass was an integral part of the design concept used to activate the library’s entrance porch and arcade. With the entry situated on the north side of the building, issues with exposure to wind and lack of natural illumination presented a major design challenge. To enliven the entrance and provide needed weather protection, we created a 2-story open-air glass enclosure designed to gather light and provide warmth... Channel glass proved to be an ideal media for this purpose... The textural quality of the glass and the unique profile of the extrusions display the light in dynamic ways and reflect the surroundings that are constantly changing as the day progresses. The result is a space that invites interaction and celebrates the library experience.” — Tony Major, Assc. Architect at Willis Pember Architects
