Project Description
Bendheim provided safety-laminated, linear patterned glass for the the central staircase of the award-winning Ermenegildo Zegna Flagship store at 663 Fifth Avenue, New York City. The soft geometry of the glass gives a sense of movement to the nature themed mural behind it. The vertical pattern of the glass draws customers upward to explore the store’s upper floors. Bendheim’s careful attention to the pronounced linear glass patterns, through the precise engineering and manufacture of individual glass sections, creates a seamless transition between adjacent units.
Ermenegildo Zegna’s new global store concept, designed by renowned architect Peter Marino, combines the best of traditional and contemporary design. Inspired by Ermenegildo Zegna’s woven-goods history and its wool mills in the Italian Alps, the architect’s design for the 9,200-sq.-ft. store bears resemblance to a loom in action. According to Peter Marino, “The patterned glass combined with the nature mural and lenticular film behind it creates an additional woven element to the store.”
