The Momentary | SOMO Parking Structure

Project Description

Artist Chad โ€œNishโ€ Earles, in collaboration with Wheeler Kearns Architects and the Bendheim Design-Assist team, turned this parking structure into a tribute that honors the cultural heritage of the Caddo Nation. Inspired by ancestral Caddo pottery design, the work, entitled โ€œAbove and Belowโ€, elegantly wraps around the buildingโ€™s exterior in a smooth and uninterrupted flow.

The digitally printed, ceramic frit glass panels were installed with Bendheim’s Wall-F compression fittings systemย for decorative glass rainscreens.

Project Testimonials

From the Architect

This facade was an opportunity to give permanent presence to that history, but also to that present, because the Caddo people are still there. It was a way to push back on erasure and say “weโ€™re still here, and we have a rich culture.”

- Thomas Boyster, Project Architect at Wheeler Kearns Architects
