Project Description
This Colorado home presents a finely tuned balance between tradition and modernity. The exterior embraces the original architecture of the home, while the interior has evolved into a contemporary, open, highly functional space. A variety of Bendheim architectural glass styles help accomplish the interior transformation. The glass is used strategically throughout, establishing clean design lines and creating the impression of a brighter, larger space.
One of the defining characteristics of the modern kitchen is its simplicity and organized elegance. Bendheim’s low-iron, pattern etched glass is an excellent semi-transparent solution for the cabinet fronts. It frames cabinet contents to allow the beauty of the items to stand out, while providing a veiled display to eliminate clutter. The linear pattern adds a kinetic quality, creating a sense of movement as one’s viewing angle to the glass changes. Polished glass shelving is an attractive and practical addition to all cabinets, allowing light to flow through. The glass door fronts, glass shelves, and brilliant white cabinet backs work together to brighten the entire kitchen.
Translucent white laminated safety glass defines the various functional areas throughout the home. It helps avoid the closed-off feeling that solid walls tend to create, especially in smaller spaces. An abundance of well-organized storage is disguised behind coordinating white laminated glass doors. The brilliant, semi-opaque closet doors maintain design uniformity and obscure items on the inside. Strategically positioned mirrored closet doors serve a dual purpose: adding depth and brightness to the interior, while functioning as full-size mirrors.
