Children’s Hospital of Orange County

Project Description

The new outpatient tower at Childrenโ€™s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), part of Rady Childrenโ€™s Health, was designed with children and families in mind, combining multiple pediatric specialties in one convenient location. Bendheimโ€™s glass solutions were incorporated to help create an environment that balances durability with a welcoming, child-first environment.

Working closely with CannonDesign and the project team, Bendheim provided a curated palette of decorative high-performance glass solutions tailored to the towerโ€™s needs. Softly etched, mirrored SatinTechโ„ข glass in a range of uplifting colors, deliver a sense of playfulness, helping create an inviting atmosphere for children and their families. Complementing this, back painted โ€œRiver Iceโ€ Textured Glass, adds depth and a tactile richness throughout the space. The glass panels were installed with Bendheimโ€™s Z-KISSโ„ข cladding system, a precision-engineered system that simplifies installation and maintenance while offering a clean refined aesthetic ideal for healthcare environments.

In waiting areas, Bendheimโ€™s Lambertsยฎ channel glass plays a key role in shaping the patient experience. The channel glass provides obscured vision while maintaining a strong connection to the outside environment, allowing daylight to filter deep into the space without compromising privacy. This combination creates open, bright, and inviting waiting areas filled with natural light, an important factor in reducing stress and supporting healing for both patients and their families.
