What is machine rolled glass?

“Rolled” glass is also known as “machine rolled,” “textured,” “patterned,” and “figured” glass. It is a type of flat architectural glass, manufactured by imprinting a ribbon of glass with a pair of machined or engraved forming rolls. The rolls impress their surface pattern into the glass surfaces. The result is glass with a distinct pattern impressed on one or both of its surfaces.

Bendheim offers hundreds of in-stock textured (rolled) glass varieties, available in standard thicknesses as well as “heavy” thicknesses ranging approx. 3/8″ (10 mm) to 1/2″ (12 mm).

The quality standards for machine rolled glass are defined by ASTM C 1036 โ€“ Standard Specification for Flat Glass.
