225 Liberty Street

Project Description

In the atrium at 225 Liberty Street, finely fluted textured glass by Bendheim creates obscuring railings for the stairwell. The guardrail glass is curved to match the radius of the stair it wraps, so the rail reads as one continuous surface rather than a series of flat facets stitched together. Each panel is also digitally printed with a soft gradient that fades toward the top, used solely to conceal the edge of the stair.

Where the atrium stair curves, the connecting stair between office floors runs straight, glazed in the same Bendheim textured glass, cut and set as flat panels so the rail still glows with light rather than reflecting it.
