Non-Traditional Showroom Serves as Design Resource for A&D Professionals
We are proud to announce the official opening of our architectural glass DesignLab™ on the top floor of the New York Design Center on 200 Lexington Avenue. In a building housing over one hundred innovative showrooms, our new Midtown Manhattan location brings our educational and collaborative design resources to the heart of the NYC architectural market.
The DesignLab™ is a comprehensive specialty glass education, specification, and design resource. Within the Lab’s 5,000 square-foot-space, designers can learn about specialty architectural glass – from how it’s made to today’s applications. They can collaborate with one of our design consultants to create new glass types and tailored glass systems. Our team of design consultants holds over 90 years of combined experience in the specialty glass industry to assist A&D professionals with custom product development and specification.
“Our grandfather’s love for art glass sparked the idea for Bendheim in the 1920s… The love for the material still drives every decision we make today. Our goal for the Design Lab is to inspire passion for glass in every design professional who visits us and collaborates with our team.”
Unlike traditional showrooms that display a limited range of products to steer designers towards select offerings, the Design Lab stocks hundreds of specialty glass samples and a full range of glass systems, including never-before-seen prototypes. The breadth of resources facilitates glass design and specification.
“Our grandfather’s love for art glass sparked the idea for Bendheim in the 1920s. Much has changed since then, but the love for the material still drives every decision we make today,” said Steven Jayson, Bendheim Co-owner and Executive Vice President. “Our goal for the Design Lab is to inspire passion for glass in every design professional who visits us and collaborates with our team.”
Bendheim’s collaborative design approach has a long history. The company opened the nation’s first specialty architectural glass showroom in Tribeca in 1989. It served building professionals for 30 years, until the opening of the new Midtown location.
The Design Lab is located at the New York Design Center, 200 Lexington Ave. Ste. 1602, New York, NY. It is open to the trade by appointment Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For appointments, please call toll-free 1-800.221.7379, ext. 110.
