Project Description
Bendheim’s Optichroic® dichroic glass adorns the main terminal ceiling at Hamad International Airport. The glass features a fine-etched SatinTech® surface finish, which diffuses light and reflections, as well as softens the shifting glass hues. In combination with the various glass angles, this lends an ephemeral quality – a “color without color” aesthetic to most panels.
Through skylights above, the dichroic glass interacts with the changing daylight throughout the day, as the sun travels across the sky. Also, as passengers’ angle of view changes as they move through the terminal, the Optichroic® glass panels overhead can morph from vibrant pinks and purples to subtle off-whites to soothing blues and greens. A dynamic play of color and light is created.
The glass is tempered-and-laminated safety. It can be specified in sizes up to 54″ x 120″ and thicknesses up to 3/4″. Bendheim can tailor the aesthetic with a wide range of finishes, textures, and light-diffusing interlayers to create different effects.
