Bendheim Wall Systems’ Channel Glass Creates Sweeping Interior Walls

Bendheim Wall Systems Inc., the exclusive North American distributor of Lamberts U-shaped channel glass, offers architects and designers an aesthetic and performance only possible with this unique glass form. The company’s selection features six surface textures in regular and ultra-clear low iron glass, three thermal coatings, sandblast treatments, and hundreds of permanent enamel frit colors.
Architects and designers can create continuous, uninterrupted glass walls up to 23 feet tall with little need for intermediate framing members. Channel glass’ distinctive three-dimensional U-shape offers a characteristic depth and profile unmatched by conventional glass partitions. Exterior facades of channel glass are extremely effective as daylighting elements. As interior partitions, channel glass distributes natural light for the benefit of all. When illuminated, the walls create dynamic, eye-catching alternatives to flat glass.
Bendheim Wall Systems’ six channel glass textures – fine-mesh Solar™, finely ribbed Piccolo®, 504 Rough Cast™, Ice™, Clarissimo™ and Prismasolar™ – offer a variety of aesthetic options and privacy levels. Bendheim Wall Systems can configure channel glass as single or double-glazed interior partitions. The glass channels can be oriented vertically or horizontally. Vertical channel glass systems can be custom-curved, resulting in a striking design aesthetic. The company’s proprietary interior frames are engineered for the demands of each specific application. They permit “dry-joint” assembly, eliminating the need for silicone sealants. Bendheim’s Back-Painted Glass Collection Acquires 20 New Nature-Inspired Designs

We have expanded our back-painted glass line with a new collection of 20 designs inspired by nature and the latest decorative surface trends. The new collection features a range of luscious hues, some in combination with subtle textures, creating dynamic, maintenance-friendly decorative wall claddings for healthcare, hospitality, commercial, and residential interiors.
From sumptuous oxblood and chic “peacock” teal to lively yellow and soothing spa blue, the new back-painted glass collection helps design professionals add character and vitality to interior spaces, while creating peaceful and rejuvenating environments. The durable, maintenance-friendly glass surfaces are ideal for high-traffic, frequent-use applications, including feature walls, lobbies and elevators, as well as kitchen and bath backsplashes.
Bendheim Color Coated Glass is a VOC-free product produced with eco-safe (water-based and isocyanate-free) coatings. The colors are stable and durable, formulated and applied to last many years. The glass is available in sizes up to 60” by 120”. It can be supplied in safety tempered or laminated form, an unlimited range of custom colors, and thicknesses ranging from 1/8” to 3/4”.
Our fully vertically integrated fabrication provides in-house automated cutting, polishing, waterjet, tempering, lamination, and back-painting services. These capabilities ensure a budget-friendly product and timely delivery.

MITIMCo’s Renovation of 640 Memorial Drive Benefits from Bendheim Wall Systems’ Channel Glass

Lamberts channel glass from Bendheim Wall Systems Inc. is a prominent design element in the renovation of 640 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, MA. Owned by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Investment Management Company (MITIMCo), the historically significant building formerly served as the Ford Motor Company’s assembly plant, where the iconic Model T car was built.
Designed by KlingStubbins, the two-story interior serpentine wall of channel glass defines the renovated entrance, providing a modern design element for the 225,000 square-foot building. Lamberts’ 504 Rough Cast, a texture reminiscent of hammered pearl or orange peel, combines moderate translucency with superior light scattering properties. Daylight brings a living vitality to the lobby space. At night, the illuminated double-glazed glass wall creates a warm, glowing appearance. “We were very happy with the installation and the overall effect of Bendheim’s channel glass. Both day and night, the effects were better than we expected” stated Michael Giardina, Design Principal at KlingStubbins.
Bendheim Wall Systems’ technical team collaborated with the architects to create the structurally sound wall of glass, free of unsightly metal jambs. Channel glass is one of the few products capable of creating continuous, uninterrupted glass walls of unlimited length. Ipswich Bay Glass Co. installed the channel glass in Bendheim Wall Systems’ I-41 frame, configured in a softly curving shape for a continuous, refined appearance.
In addition to the remodeled entrance, 640 Memorial Drive was completely re-engineered to meet the demands of emerging and innovative research. It features new mechanical systems and modern workspace designed to improve energy efficiency and water use. The 40% post-consumer recycled content of the Lamberts channel glass contributed to the project earning its LEED Gold certification.

Bendheim Introduces “Jelly Bean” Architectural Glass Collection

Bendheim introduces its new “Jelly Bean” Collection of architectural glasses to the design/build market. Informed by the latest design trends, the safety-laminated “Jelly Bean” Glass Collection features 14 bright colors bringing a sense of optimism and comfort to hospitality, retail, healthcare, educational, and corporate interiors and exteriors.

“The ‘Jelly Bean’ Collection responds to current design trends favoring combinations of bright colors and daylight to create soothing, uplifting and stimulating environments,” said Donald Jayson, Sr. Vice President of Bendheim. “At the same time, the glass is highly functional and technologically advanced, offering years of UV protection and enhanced thermal control.”
The fire-polished “Jelly Bean” laminated glasses meet building safety codes, are stable, fade-resistant, and easy to maintain. The colored interlayers reduce solar energy transmittance, preventing heat build-up. They screen out up to 99% of damaging UV rays, helping minimize color fading of fabrics and furnishings. Installed in facades, the “Jelly Bean” Glass Collection helps control solar heat gain and reduces cooling loads.
Carefully selected from hundreds of hues, the collection offers a taste of Bendheim’s advanced custom color capabilities. All colors are VOC-free and have undergone vigorous testing to ensure long-term stability. Custom product options include a virtually unlimited number of transparent, translucent (opal), and opaque hues and surface alternatives, including etched, etched patterns, and surface textures.

Bendheim Wall Systems Introduces Low-Iron Channel Glass Textures

Bendheim Wall Systems, an exclusive distributor of channel glass from Germany-based Glasfabrik Lamberts, introduces five new low-iron channel glass textures to the architectural and design market. Low-iron channel glass has an ultra-clear, brilliant quality, displaying only the very slightest green tint when viewed through its edge.
Previously available only in fine-mesh Solar™ texture, low-iron channel glass can now be specified in 504 Rough Cast™, Ice™, Piccolo®, Clarissimo™ and Prismasolar™ textures. The expanded offering provides architects the highly sought-after brilliance and clarity of low-iron glass in six surface textures of increasing obscuration.

Lamberts low-iron channel glass is produced from highly specialized raw materials containing ultra-minimal iron oxides. The result is a significant reduction of the characteristic green tint most noticeable in the glass edges. The glass is manufactured in Europe’s first clean-burning oxy-fueled cast glass plant. As with standard glass, low-iron glass channels may be sandblasted, treated with thermal coatings, or colored in a wide range of enamel frits for bright, robust colors.
Lamberts channel glass creates gleaming never-ending façades and interior partitions up to 23 feet tall without the need for intermediate framing. The glass can be installed vertically or horizontally, single glazed or double glazed, in Bendheim Wall Systems’ frames. Textures, coatings, treatments and colors can be combined within a single opening, and enhanced thermal performance can be achieved through the addition of an insulating interlayer with a Low-E or other thermal coating. Lamberts channel glass also offers two exclusive safety advantages: it is a Safety Glazing Certification Council (SGCC) approved tempered glass, and is available with a certified 100% heat soak testing.
