Project Description
The W New York – Times Square Hotel features Bendheim’s Optichroic® laminated architectural glass. The dichroic glass forms the DJ booth on the far end of the lobby. The unique spherical design was inspired by the iconic New Year’s Eve Ball at Times Square, a nod to the hotel’s landmark location. The varying angles of the glass pieces create a dynamic array of ever-changing colors: from golden yellow to spring green to electric magenta. The dichroic color shift is emphasized as the viewer’s angle to the glass changes, creating a powerful, interactive design element. As an added benefit, the laminated glass offers enhanced safety and sound attenuation. Our Optichroic™ dichroic glass is available in a wide range of aesthetics, including fully and lightly etched surfaces, etched patterns, as well as organic and geometric textures.
Bendheim’s decorative laminated glass offers building professionals tremendous design flexibility. It is produced by combining two or more layers of glass with one or more decorative interlayers, such as specialized color filters. This process allows the creation of virtually unlimited aesthetic options. Bendheim produces safety laminated glass through several types of in-house lamination, creating a breadth of standard and custom products under our roof.
