Building a Clear Future

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)

Bendheim has achieved Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its products and are now published by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International). ASTM International ensures that Bendheim’s EPDs meet the highest standards of reliability and global recognition(ISO standards 14025 & 21930) and reflect our commitment to transparency, accountability, and environmental stewardship.

Bendheim’s EPDs are Product-specific Type III EPDs that include external verification and external critical review.  EPDs are standardized, verified documents that transparently present credible information about a product’s impact on the environment. These documents help architects, builders, and designers make informed, sustainability-focused decisions, and they contribute to achieving credits in green building certification programs, including LEED, BREEAM, Living Building Challenge (LBC), WELL, Green Star, and others. Bendheim EPDs are valued as 1.5 products for the purposes of credit achievement calculation.

Monolithic Glass and Mirrors Environmental Product Declaration

Monolithic glass is glass in its most basic form; it is simply a single sheet of rolled or float glass. The glass is either annealed, heat-strengthened or tempered and it may be back painted or digitally printed. Annealed glass is glass in its basic form that breaks into jagged pieces, while tempered glass is approximately four times stronger and breaks into small, diced-sized pieces. Furthermore, the glass may be regular, low iron, or tinted and may be etched or textured. Monolithic mirror is a single sheet of glass with a smooth etched or polished first surface that is backed with a highly reflective metallic coating. Mirror glass may be regular, low iron, or tinted float glass and may be etched.

Laminated Glass and Mirrors Environmental Product Declaration

Laminated glass to glass is a safety glass that contains two or more glass panes permanently bonded together with a clear or colored interlayer (PVB or EVA) or with liquid resin. A safety glass, if broken, remains in place, held together by the interlayer at its core. The glass is either annealed, heat-strengthened or tempered and it may be back painted or digitally printed. Annealed glass is glass in its basic form that breaks into jagged pieces, while tempered glass is approximately four times stronger and breaks into small, dice-sized pieces. Furthermore, the glass may be regular, low iron, or tinted float glass and may be etched or textured. Glass laminated to mirror utilizing a clear or colored interlayer (PVB or EVA)  is also safety glass.

Decorative Laminated Glass and Mirrors Environmental Product Declaration

Decorative laminated glass to glass or laminated glass to mirror safety products are permanently bonded with an interlayer (PVB or EVA). A laminated safety glass; if broken, remains in place, held together by the interlayer at its core. Glass is produced as standard annealed, heat-strengthened or safety tempered. Annealed glass is glass in its basic form that breaks into jagged pieces, while tempered glass is approximately four times stronger and breaks into small, dice-sized pieces. Mirror is available as standard annealed. Laminated decorative glass and mirrors can contain a  variety of decorative specialty interlayers including color filters, fabrics, metal meshes, graphic films, chicken wire, and fiber.

Glass Marker Boards Environmental Product Declaration

Glass marker boards1 may be magnetic or non-magnetic and assembled with back-painted monolithic glass or back-painted laminated glass to glass. The magnetic glass marker board has an additional steel sheet. Monolithic glass is glass in its most basic form; it is simply a single sheet of rolled or float glass. The glass is either annealed, heat-strengthened or tempered. Annealed glass is glass in its basic form that breaks into jagged pieces, while tempered glass is approximately four times stronger and breaks into small, dice-sized pieces. Furthermore, the glass may be regular, low iron, or tinted float glass and may be etched. Laminated glass to glass is a safety glass that contains two or more glass panes permanently bonded with an interlayer (PVB or EVA). A laminated safety glass, if broken, remains in place, held together by the interlayer at its core. The glass is either annealed, heat-strengthened or tempered. Bendheim’s Glass Marker Boards may include the Z-KISS™ Concealed Glass Wall Fastening System to facilitate the installation of the board.

Channel Glass Environmental Product Declaration

U-shaped glass channels, available up to 23 ft (7M) long, used for interior partitions or exterior façade applications. It’s U-shape enables it to withstand greater environmental stresses than typical float glasses of similar thickness (1/4”). Its self-supporting profile allows for maximum glass and minimal framing for improved daylighting opportunities. The glass is available in regular and low-iron; low-iron glass is produced with a minimal amount of iron, reducing the greenish tint and improving light transmission. Channel glass is available as standard annealed or safety tempered; annealed glass is glass in its basic form that breaks into jagged pieces, while tempered glass is approximately four times stronger and breaks into small, dice-sized pieces.

Health Product Declarations (HPDs)

Health Product Declarations (HPDs) are essential tools that provide architects and designers with transparent, credible information about material health impacts and sustainability, allowing them to make informed decisions based on health and sustainability criteria.

Bendheim has published third-party-verified and third-party-prepared HPDs for its products and systems, reinforcing its commitment to health-conscious and sustainable practices and demonstrating a strong dedication to transparency and sustainability, distinguishing its products in a competitive market.

Standardized, third-party HPDs simplify product comparisons, aiding LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenge certifications, as well as the Green Globes and are valued up to 1.5 products for the purposes of credit achievement calculation.
